DOSTI³ - 2009 is the second year of the DOSTI³ project. We plan to continue the same focus as the focus that we had for the DOSTI³ 2008 pilot project. The focus of this year will continue to be

(1) Offer financial assistance for students from poor families to attend school
(2) Enhance the library facility at the school
(3) Work towards increasing female enrollment in the schools

DOSTI³ (Dream of School through Inform, Involve, Inspire) is a community development project, aimed at providing quality education to financially backward children. The project provides financial assistance to these underprivileged children as well as helps fund the target schools where these children are likely to attend.

As part of DOSTI³ - 2009, we will continue to work with MGM Public School, Chettukuzhy, Kochera PO, Idukki (DT), Kerala, one of the backward districts in Kerala to support the education of the students.

Achieving our first goal: Working with the officials of the school, we have identified the need for partial help for 55 students for the year 2009 and we are planning to provide Rs.900 (~$25) per student to meet part of the tuition fee for the year 2009.

Achieving our second goal: Working with the officials of the school, we have identified a list of books that will enhance the library. We are planning to donate the third batch of books for the library.

Achieving our third goal: The school will try to reach out to all girls who currently do not attend school and encourage them to attend the school. The goal for this year is to reach out to probable students within a radius of 5 kms.

As part of DOSTI³ 2008, we provided partial tution help for 55 students from financially poor families. This has helped to retain the students in the school.

As part of the library initiative, two batches of books were donated to the school. The students make use of these books and have helped with their reading oppurtunities available at the school. While the number of books have increased, the school still needs more books to meet the demands of the reading needs of the students.

MGM Public School, Chettukuzhy, Kochera PO, Idukki (DT), Kerala, continues to operate classes from KG to 8th grade. With limited infrastructure, the class rooms are seperated with hard boards and do not have seperate rooms.
